FUTRONIC MKII is the preferred ALL-IN-ONE test equipment for radio inspectors performing mandatory, periodical surveys of
ship-borne communications equipment, radio beacons, AIS and Search and Rescue transponders.
MKII is the only test box on the market capable of multiple test functions and a proven operational lifetime of
more than 20 years. MKII is capable of testing all radio and safety equipment obligated by IMO to undergo mandatory inspections.
FUTRONIC MKII is available in three different models:
GMDSS, GMDSS-AIS and GMDSS-AIS-SART.
FUTRONIC MKII
Measure all eight AIS-bursts simultaneously in one single test. Faster testing is also achieved with the
Futronic MKII through simultaneous tests of frequency, data and power in AIS and VHF tests.
VHF RADIOS
DSC data, ATIS, frequency, power,
VSWR and deviation.
Measuring frequency and power simultaneously.
MF/HF RADIOS
DSC data, frequency, power and
VSWR. Measuring DSC data and frequency
simultaneously.
Optional: MF/HF Power sensor
NAVTEX RECEIVERS
Reception of transmitted NAVTEX messages.
TELEX
Send and Receive TELEX messages
AIS TRANSPONDERS
Measuring AIS data, frequency,
power and VSWR simultaneously on:
SEARCH AND RESCUE TRANSPONDERS
Measuring Data & frequency on:
PILOT PLUG
Optional: Pilot plug cable
Import any test and measurement data from your Futronic MKII to your PC with USB connection.
Manage test box settings with the PC software, and compose custom-made DSC and AIS messages. Transfer them to the test box and save them on your PC for later use. Once the AIS messages is transfered to the test box, the message will transmit on both AIS channels AIS1 and AIS2.
With the custom-made messages you can test all types of DSC and AIS message.
The PC Software is continually updated in relation to the latest IMO requirements and is always available for download here.
View and save all test results collected during inspection, by the Futronic MKII with the Futronic MKII PC Report Manager. Import all data and measurements by USB connection, and reach the full potential of your Futronic MKII.
The intuitive design enables you to automatically create a wide variety of test reports, directly on your PC. This ensures complete reports easily, and correct reports up to IMO standards. Get your test results aligned with the survey reports for faster reporting.
The PC software is continually updated in relation to the latest IMO requirements and is always available for download here.
Update your FUTRONIC MKII to the latest software online and take advantage of all new features and improvements.
The software updates enables expanded testscope, improved and better testing and more efficient test features.
This includes IMO GMDSS updates (e.g. Solas AIS 1252), new regulatory requirements (e.g. Inland waterways), new frequencies (e.g. EPIRB), new messages (e.g. AIS), new functions (e.g. auto test), new features (e.g. AIS burst), other improvements etc.
The FUTRONIC PC manager software will perform an automatic check for software updates, or alternatively just request an update here and you will get an email with the installation. The test box needs to be within calibration to be updated online.
Learn all about the latest features in the Software Release Document and optimize your testing to reach FUTRONIC MKII's full capability.
The software release includes a guide on how to use the new features.
When the test box is in for calibration, we automatically update it to the latest software version.
The first-generation Futronic test box was developed in 1995 as a result of a development project with the natinal telecom authorities. In 2012 it was succeeded by the new Futronic MKII. The Futronic MKII optimizes the whole radio survey procedure, offers many new features, has smaller dimensions and weight, has double battery capacity and faster and more simple testing.

A radio survey is a set of test procedures carried out by a qualified radio inspector in order to verify and confirm that the communication, navigational and safety equipment on board the vessel is fully operational.
Radio surveys should be carried out using test equipment capable of performing all the relevant measurements required by the guidelines laid down in SOLAS Chapter IV and specified in IMO Resolutions A.997 and A.948.
