NATIONAL NAVTEX SYSTEM IN INDIA

 

The new system includes 14 dual-channel transmitters to be located at seven Transmitter/Receiver stations, seven Monitoring stations, Database servers and Operator positions.


Interlinked through an IP network, the system shall provide coverage of up to 250
nautical miles (460 km) from the Indian coastline and will transmit maritime navigational and meteorological warnings and forecasts, as well as urgent marine safety information to ships at sea in Indian waters.


The network is the first of its kind for the country and will cover the entire Indian
coastline with a Command & Control Centre on the Western coast and an identical
Command & Control Center on the Eastern coast.
