Danphone has secured an order for the supply of a complete IP-based GMDSS communication solution to be installed at Port Sudan. The project is organized and operated by Sea Ports Corporation (SPC) - Port Sudan and the order was secured with support from our partner Marine Equipment & Services Co. Ltd.
The client chose Danphone because of our technical advantages, customer service and comprehensive list of successful references with similar GMDSS projects.
The solution consists of a MF/HF transmitter site with two redundant 1kW transmitters and a separate MF/HF receiver site with six receivers for DSC and one receiver for Voice communications. In addition, there will be a VHF site with two VHF transceivers for both Voice and DSC. One central Control Center will be equipped with two communications servers in redundant configuration and two GMDSS workstations for remote operation of all radios.
Danphone supply all equipment including our intuitive software solution for easy handling and monitoring of the complete system. The new Danphone GMDSS Coast Station solution will be a vital upgrade to the existing system and provide Port Sudan with a modern and fully IMO and IALA compliant installation.
The GMDSS solution will benefit SAR and radio communications in the whole region, and therefore upgrade the critical infrastructure for the whole Red Sea area. The new system can for example reduce the impact of a blockage in the Suez Canal (like in March 2021), by warning and guiding incoming ships earlier.
We have now delivered coastal radio and safety communication to five countries in the Red Sea area, and thereby covering the main part of the region.
We look forward to commissioning the GMDSS system later this year and provide after sales support for our valued clients for many years to come.
